What Is a Cavapoo?
A Cavapoo is a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Miniature or Toy Poodle. The cross became popular in the 1990s, especially in Australia, and has since become a favorite family dog in the United States.

Coat, Colors and Shedding
Cavapoos have a soft, wavy or curly coat in colors such as black, white, cream, apricot, red, brown and merle. Most are low shedders, but shedding varies from dog to dog, and no dog is completely hypoallergenic. Brush several times a week to prevent mats and tangles, and plan on a professional groom every six to eight weeks.
Temperament
Cavapoos are gentle, affectionate and intelligent. They are known for getting along with everyone, including children and other pets, and they are happy in an apartment or a home with a small yard. They love to be with their people and do best when not left alone for long periods.
Training and Exercise
Cavapoos are eager to please and generally easy to train with positive methods. They have moderate energy: a daily walk and some playtime keep them happy and well-behaved.
Health and Care
Cavapoos are generally healthy, but like all breeds they can inherit conditions from their parent breeds, such as heart conditions (common in Cavaliers) and kneecap problems (patellar luxation). Regular veterinary checkups, dental care and a healthy weight help your Cavapoo live a long, happy life.
